For more than 20 years, Barry Manville has immersed himself in fine food and beverage. In 1998, Barry has a vivid memory of being bitten by the wine bug, and the day that his life would be forever changed. The wines responsible for his epiphany were a 1997 Voss Vineyards Sauvignon Blanc and a 1995 Niebaum-Coppola Rubicon. After tasting these two gems from California, Barry was certain of his vision for a career in the wine industry.

Barry has managed a handful restaurants, ranging from an upscale ristorante in Boise, Idaho, to a bustling brew pub in Baltimore. After starting a family, and in search of a better lifestyle, Barry abandoned the restaurant business and transitioned to retail. Barry became the Buyer and Store Manager for two very successful wine and spirit stores in the Baltimore area. In 2005, Barry traveled to Italy for further wine education. Also that year, he joined the Society of Wine Educators and earned his Certified Specialist of Wine certificate.

After returning home to Upstate NY in 2006, Barry has worked as a Sales Representative/Key Account Manager for America’s largest distributor. Over the last four years, Barry has been the District Sales Manager for the 4th largest wine supplier in America.

Most recently, Mr. Manville is pursuing the next adventure in his wine career, owner/operator of Southbridge Wines & Spirits.

On a personal note, Barry loves watching his children grow and spending time with his wife. Barry and his family just may be the friendliest food snobs on the planet. From their homemade cult-status BBQ sauce (always served with dry Rose!), to wild mushroom and goat bruschetta (served with just about any Champagne), they love to entertain and enjoy life.

Barry lives by one simple rule when it comes to enjoying wine.

“There are only two kinds of wine. Wine that you like and wine that you do not. Everything else, does not matter.”
